Our Materials

Ankole Cow Horn. The horn we use is from the Ankole cow, a breed indigenous to East Africa. It is “rescued” horn, purchased from local abattoirs (butcheries) where it would otherwise be discarded. The artisans transform this agricultural by-product into a beautiful piece of wearable art.

Aluminum. Our aluminum pieces are 100% recycled. They are cast from old car parts and cooking pots at a workshop outside Nairobi.

Brass. The brass wrapping and studs are created using repurposed industrial brass wire sourced from Kenya. The brass production is done by hand at a workshop in Haruma, Nairobi.

Glass. Our glass pieces are made from 100% recycled glass by Kitengela Glass Works in Rongai, Kenya.

Bone. Carved from discarded cow bone, an agricultural by-product, our bone pieces are hand-carved in Nairobi. The bone is cleaned, dyed and then thoroughly polished to produce its high gloss
